Day & night

Day and night are two authored states of one place. The accepted day master establishes camera, architecture, scale, materials, routes, and responsive crop. The night master keeps that spatial contract and changes only illumination, atmosphere, peripheral movement, and natural behaviour.

Connected world

World Confluence

Open concept page
A broad connected garden-city world in daylight with rivers, bridges, wooded districts, and natural wildlife
DayThe geography reads first: waterways, bridges, public gardens, habitats, and routes.
The same connected garden-city world at night with reflected civic lights and resting wildlife
NightThe geography stays fixed while settlements, water, roosts, and night movement become legible.
Locked between states
  • Camera, centred horizon, rivers, bridges, wooded hills, and district placement
  • The balance between civic, cultivated, and wild habitat
Allowed to change
  • Sunlight becomes practical light, moonlight, and water reflection
  • Day activity becomes credible rest, roosting, and nocturnal movement

Hoplite

Open Gate

Open concept page
A rabbit paused midway through an open cyan mosaic garden gate in daylight
DayThe open passage reads as speed, access, and a moment of orientation.
The same rabbit sheltered inside the gatehouse niche at night
NightThe same gate becomes shelter; local light preserves the route without inventing new architecture.
Locked between states
  • Axial camera, gate proportions, passage, landing, mosaic pattern, and garden beyond
  • The threshold as the reason for the rabbit's position
Allowed to change
  • The rabbit moves from the passage into the recessed shelter
  • Cool moonlight and restrained gatehouse light replace direct sun

Hestia

Sovereign Hearth

Open concept page
A greyhound standing between a garnet couch and dormant circular hearth in daylight
DayDay reveals the complete room and the relationship between couch, hearth, and circulation.
The same greyhound asleep on the couch while the hearth burns at night
NightThe hearth becomes the practical source of warmth and light; the room and furniture stay locked.
Locked between states
  • Opposite-corner camera, couch, hearth, glass roof, wall treatment, and room proportions
  • The couch and hearth as the spatial cause of movement and rest
Allowed to change
  • The dormant hearth burns and produces local reflected light
  • The greyhound changes from alert standing to natural sleep

ThemedArtwork.astro still selects the state that follows the page theme. Editorial pages and catalogues should also provide explicit Day, Night, or Compare controls whenever the pair itself is the subject.

A dark overlay on the day image is not a night master. Night requires physically located light, changed reflections, credible shadow, and a natural state that belongs to the same architecture.
